One of the most abundantly researched essential oils, tea tree oil is revered for its magical properties. Melaleuca Alternifolia, the shrub like tree from which the oil is produced, is native to the swampy lands of Australia.

Arthur Penfold, a chemist back in the 1920s, was conducting research on some of the volatile essential oils. Through his attempts, he chanced upon tea tree oil and was pleasantly surprised with its antiseptic properties. The aboriginals had already started using this oil much before Arthur Penfold started industrializing this essential oil. The uses of tea tree oil are immense, with this oil gaining popularity by the day. To sum it up, the antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties of tea tree oil make it a good selection for everybody’s medicine cabinet.
