Are you experiencing a shooting pain that makes it difficult to stand up accompanied by lower back pain, burning in a part of the leg or butt, or numbness in the leg? Then in all likelihood you are suffering from sciatica.
Sciatica is a condition in which the pain arises from the lower back and may radiate down the leg. This is mainly caused due to the irritation of the sciatic nerve. The sciatic nerve is the longest nerve in the body which starts from the lower back going through the buttocks and all the way down the leg, ending at the feet. When the sciatic nerve gets pinched or irritated at any point in its course, it will give rise to symptoms of sciatica. Sciatica pain may start from the back and radiate behind the thigh and may go down the leg. Depending on the region and intensity of impingement on the sciatic nerve root, the symptoms experienced may vary.
